The engine in your vehicle is made up of many steel and aluminum parts that are rapidly moving next to and against each other. To keep them from scraping each other and creating damages that would threaten the smooth running of the engine, they are swimming in a huge pool of oil that keeps the friction to a minimum. Over time, that oil gets very dirty and becomes less and less able to provide the protection to the moving parts. In order to prevent that from happening, it is very important for that oil to be changes fairly frequently. How frequently depends on the way you drive, how much you drive and the type of engine that is in your vehicle.
A major component of the lubrication system is the oil filter. Its job is to keep cleaning the oil so that it can efficiently do its job. When the filter gets clogged, the oil loses its effectiveness. We always replace the filter with a quality new one with every oil change.
Checking your oil is part of our regular preventive maintenance inspections.
